First Official Activity of the Jewish Association of Fine Artists of Spain<\/a><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n

Tarbut Sefarad<\/a><\/b>, announces the creation of The Jewish Association of Fine Artists of Spain<\/strong>. The initiative belongs to Mario Saban<\/b>, president of Tarbut Sefarad<\/strong> and Santiago Raigorodsky<\/b>, director of Tarbut Arte<\/strong>, with the support of Alba Andreu<\/b>, president of Tarbut Barcelona<\/strong> and many other friends and artists.<\/p>\n

The association is highly connected to the activities of Tarbut Sefarad<\/strong> but remains open and at the disposal of any institution whose objectives are the promotion and transmission of the profound values of art and the preservation of Jewish culture.<\/p>\n

The association will soon have its own web page, designed to inform of all its activities and also to offer news of general interest regarding the world of Jewish fine arts. Until the website is ready, the activities will be featured in Tarbut Arte.<\/p>\n

The first official activity of the association will take place on the 28th<\/sup> of May, with the opening of the exhibition \u201cPainting Painting Painting\u201d by Jos\u00e9 Luis Aguil\u00f3, Norman Narotzky and Santiago Raigorodsky. The event is organized in cooperation with Tarbut Sefarad<\/a>, Tarbut Arte and Jabad Barcelona, and will take place in the Call bookstore, C\/Sant Honorat, 9, Local 1, Bajos, Barcelona.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Lu\u00eds Aguil\u00f3<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Jos\u00e9 Lu\u00eds Aguil\u00f3<\/a><\/b> is a painter from Barcelona with several individual exhibitions in Spain and Japan and with an extended participation in collective exhibitions, national and international, and art fares such as XXXVIII Sal\u00f3n de Oto\u00f1o de Pintura de Plasencia 2006, LXIVI Exposici\u00f3n Internacional de Artes Pl\u00e1sticas, Valdepe\u00f1as 2005, ARCO 2003, V Mostra d “Art Contemporani Catala. He received various painting awards and also a scholarship from the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation New York, 2006-2007. Some of hiw works can be found in art collections such as Banc de Sabadell, Collecci\u00f3 Testimoni. Fundaci\u00f3 “La Caixa”, Ajuntament de Montcada i Reixac, Ajuntament de la Garriga.<\/p>\n

\"Norman<\/p>\n

Norman Narotzky<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Norman Narotzky<\/b> was born in 1928 in Brooklyn, New York. He began studying at the High School of Music and Art and continued studying at the Art Students League in Brooklyn College and at the Cooper Art School. In 1954 he received a scholarship from the Wooley Foundation that forced him to travel to Paris, where he worked in Atelier 17.<\/p>\n

He spent the summer of 1955 painting in Cadaqu\u00e9s, Catalonia. Upon returning to Paris, he received a scholarship from the French government. He received a Fulbright scholarship the following year, which made him relocate to Munich. In 1958 he settled in Barcelona, often travelling to Cadaqu\u00e9s and New York.<\/p>\n

Narotzky has had over forty solo exhibitions in both Europe and America. Some of his works are exhibited in the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and in the Whitney Museum of American Art among others.<\/p>\n

Santiago Raigorodsky<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Santiago Raigorodsky<\/a><\/strong> was born in Buenos Aires (Argentina), in December 1944, where he lived until 1975, when he moved to Brasil. There, he continued his activity as a painter, working in several cities, especially in Rio de Janeiro and Curitiba. In 1982, he moved to Israel, to the city of Kfar Saba, where he carried on with his artistic and also teaching activity. He was distinguished with several art awards in Brasil, Argentina and Spain. He is currently living in Barcelona, Spain and is the director of Tarbut Arte<\/a>.<\/p>\n
